I finish University and seek to get back in to escape from real life.

I tried to sort out my marriage and went back to Bristol where my wife and two daughters were living. However within a few months I left Frances for the last time.

I carried on with my degree at Bristol University. Then back again for an Msc(Econ) at LSE.I then did a PGCE in Liverpool where I met Liz the love of my life who I married in 1984.I knew after the PGCE that I wanted to escape back into University teaching. All praise to the secondary school teachers of this world. After some FE teaching and temporary and part time HE teaching I got a full-time job at the then South Bank Poly ( now University)in 1980.

I managed along with others to develop courses for trade unionists at the South Bank and later at Uni of North London. As well as basic courses we ran half degrees and eventually a MA in Labour studies.I also enjoyed writing and researching during this period especially with European colleagues.I spent three months at the University of Bremen which was very enlightening.

I retired 2001 but carried on teaching with the Open University and the University of Leeds until 2007. I also was an internal examiner on a big European funded research project on call centers at this time.
My cumulative experience of HE went into my book A Proper Poly after much fictional twisting of reality(see end of my bio).

Since then I have completed the 640 miles of the South West coastal path plus other coastal paths,Suffolk and West Wales and other long distance paths,Cotswold, South Downs(3 times),Northumberland and Hadrian's wall and written two novels.NO HOME IN TIME and A Proper Poly.
